The Malta-EU Steering and Action Committee (MEUSAC), together with The Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority ( MCCAA) and the Ministry for Gozo will be organising an information session on the Directive 2011/83/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 October 2011 on consumer rights, amending Council Directive 93/13/EEC and Directive 1999/44/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council and repealing Council Directive 85/577/EEC and Directive 97/7/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council.
This information session will focus on this Directive which is strengthening the consumer rights by giving consumers the same rights across the EU, while striking the right balance between consumer protection and business competitiveness.
This Directive replaces another Council Directive aimed at protecting consumers in respect of contracts negotiated away from business premises. It also replaces another Directive on the protection of consumers in respect of distance contracts.
The information session will be held on Thursday, the 11th of February, starting at 10:00am, at Gozo University Campus ( Hall No 5), Xewkija, Gozo.
Those who are interested in attending kindly email (email@example.com) by not later than Monday, the 8th of February.
