The MEPA Board has decided in favour of safeguarding one of Nadur's existing belvederes as it turned down a planning application which sought to demolish a stretch of over 12 metres of railing to be replaced by a 1.4 metre high party wall.
MEPA said that the proposed planning application was submitted for its consideration, after in 2004 a Court sentence had decided in favour of the applicant, giving him the right to delineate and segregate the public belvedere area from his property, which lies right below.
The Board cited that according to planning policies the proposed development will compromise the existing green area and the public's enjoyment of this open area.
