Gozo Channel reduced weekend fares for January announced

The Minister for Gozo, Dr Anton Refalo, has today announced another scheme for reduced ferry fares on Gozo Channel applicable on Saturdays and Sundays during the month of January.
The Minister said the aim is to continue to focus on the shoulder months, thereby attracting tourism throughout the whole year.
As from this weekend the reduced cost for passengers will go down from €4.65 to €1.20 and the price of a vehicle from €15.70 to € 8.20. These fares are applicable from 1.30am on Saturdays until 4.30pm on Sunday afternoon.
Joe Cordina, the Gozo Channel Chairman said that, “2015 was a very good year for Gozo Channel, both in respect to carriage of passengers as well as the financial results.”
He said that schemes such as these will continue to encourage more people to visit Gozo in the winter months, at a time when business is usually slower on the island.
Mr Cordina added that Gozo Channel was committed to improving its service, such as increasing the number of trips in the winter schedule.
Dr Refalo reiterated the Government’s commitment towards the island of Gozo, “by not only by listening, but also acting for the benefit of the Gozitan economy,” he said.
Also present for today’s launch were representatives from the Gozo Business Chamber and The Gozo Tourism Association, both of which are supporting this iniatiative.
