Motorcyclist critically injured in crash on Mgarr Road XewkijaA sixty six-year-old man is in danger of loss of life following a crash involving his motorbike and a van. The Police said that the accident happened at about 7.30am this morning on Mgarr Road, Xewkija.

The motorbike, a Guanjun GJ110, and the van, a Toyota Hiace, were both being driven in the direction of Mgarr harbour, the Police said.

The motorcyclist lives in Xewkija while the van's driver, a fifty five-year-old, is from Victoria.

Investigations are underway by the Gozitan Police while several experts have been appointed to assist with a magisterial inquiry.

      Mgarr road leading towards the harbour is very dangerous, i see many Maltese & locals belting down the hill trying to catch the ferry on time, and bikers are no exception, i believe one was killed in the same vicinity last year. RIP

      The road is not dangerous, it’s the drivers who are dangerous!

      Yes they should put more road markings in gozo as the markings are faded away and also bring in speed.limits it will be.a lot safer. FOR DRIVERS AND PEOPLE CROSSING THE ROADS
