beActive - Active Ageing project to continue in Gozo permanentlyThe Parliamentary Secretary for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Active Ageing Dr Justyne Caruana, has announced that following the success of a pilot project, held in collaboration with Kercem Ajax Football in Gozo, the project `beActive' will be held on a permanent basis.

This project, which started in July last year, is aimed to promote new means of active ageing in an adapted environment and with professional trainers.

More than 200 people participated in this pilot project, and the Parliamentary Secretariat for Rights of Persons with Disability and Active Ageing has received very positive feedback on the initiative, Dr Caruana said.

Dr Caruana added that therefore applications will be open from tomorrow, Monday, the 4th of January, applications, and from Monday, the 4th until Wednesday the 6th of January, the Kercem Ajax FC will also be open to accept applications.

The programme for the first quarter includes a variety of sessions with activities such as yoga, information on nutrition, memory exercises and pilates. This is a free service, Dr Caruana said.
