Fr Marcello Ghirlando ofm appointed Delegate for Concecrated Life

Mgr. Mario Grech, Bishop of Gozo, has newly appointed Fr Marcello Ghirlando ofm as his Delegate for Consecrated Life, for three years.
Father Marcello, who is a member of the Order of Friars Minor, has just completed serving as Vicar General of the Apostolic Vicariate of Tripoli, Libya, and is now resident in the community of Franciscan Friars Minor in Ghajnsielem.
He has a Doctorate in Biblical Theology from the Pontifical University Gregoriana, Rome, is Professor of Sacred Scripture at the Faculty of Theology at the University of Malta, and in the Major Seminary of Gozo.
In 1996 he began lecturing at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Malta, Department of Sacred Scriptures, Hebrew and Greek, mainly in the NT areas (Pauline Letters and Acts of the Apostles, Judaism and the New Testament Environment).
He is Member of the Commission for the Revision of the Bible in Maltese, was for nine years editor of the Maltese Biblical review L-Art Imqaddsa and Commissioner for the Holy Land (1993-2002).
He served as Provincial Councillor of the Order of Malta, Guardian of the various communities, Provincial Delegate of the Mission in Libya, as well as representative of the Holy See at the International Conference on Dialogue with Israel and Palestine (June 2011) and for Libya the Future Conference (June 2012).
He also an official exorcist, and the author of several publications and other studies of a Biblical nature.
