The President opens Istrina 2015 events in Gozo this weekend

President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca opened the 2015 edition of Istrina Gozo on Saturday in aid of The Malta Community Chest Fund.
The President visited Qala, where she was welcomed in the Parish church by the Mayor and the Archpriest, together with the village community. Here, the President was presented with a donation from the Qala Local Council as well as the Archpriest.
Nadur was the next stop for the President, who was welcomed by the Mayor and Councillors in the office of the Nadur Local Council, which is currently hosting an exhibition of cribs made by Nadur children and-G?aqda ?bieb tal-Presepju.
The President was presented with donations from local organisations, including the Nadur Youngsters Football Club and organisations of the two main political parties.
The President thanked the communities of Qala and Nadur, who, she said, through their solidarity continue to show how this population may be very small in number, but are big in heart. The President said that she is convinced that this year Istrina will again be an occasion where the Maltese and Gozitan people join together to support those who need our help.
Finally, the President wished everyone a Happy Christmas,.She said that this time of the year, should be one of peace and happiness in families and communities.
Istrina Gozo continues next Saturday and Sunday, when President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca and Mr Preca will visit the rest of the Gozitan localities.
