A new Don Bosco monument, was inaugurated and blessed this morning this morning, by the Bishop of Gozo Mgr Mario Grech.
The Don Bosco Oratory of Gozo organised the monument, which has been positioned in front of the Oratory Chapel, Victoria, facing the football ground. It is the work of Gozitan artist John Grima, is a replica in fibre of the bronze monument inaugurated in Turin last May, with the aim of commemorating two Gozitan priests, Fr. Joe Galea and Fr. Joshua Muscat, who inspired by Don Bosco, devoted themselves to children and youth in Turin itself.
The Gozo monument is also intended to commemorate those priests who, inspired by Don Bosco and his preventive system, worked, and are still working with both children and youth in Gozo. The monument has been installed in Gozo, thanks to the Committee which was established some years back to commemorate these two priests. Sunday's inauguration was part of the programme of events to mark the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Oratory Chapel in Victoria.
