200 children attend SkolaSport Gozo with new scheme now underway

For the first time SkolaSport is being organised by the Gozo Sports Board within the Ministry for Gozo. together with SportMalta. For this purpose the office of the Gozo Sports Board said that it has worked hard to engage as soon as possible, experienced coaches in various disciplines, so that participants have a chance to practice different sports.
The Minister for Gozo, Dr Anton Refalo officially inaugurated this new SkolaSport scheme, with around 200 children meeting every Saturday until the end of May at the sports complex in Victoria for three hours of sports training, as well as games to help them grow stronger. "All of which help the fight that the Government is undertaking against obesity," he said.
The Minister reiterated the importance of sport and physical activity to improve the quality of life. Among the disciplines available, there will be Basketball, Volleyball, Athletics, Martial Arts, Dance and Gymnastics, as well as sports and fun games aimed at the younger children.
This year free transportation will also be offered to and from the Gozo Sports Complex from each village square in Gozo. This is a service that is only being offered in Gozo, the Minister said.
Dr Refalo urged the children to attend SkolaSport, saying that school and sports are a very important part of life.
