Held annually each September at the Malta International Airport (ex: RAF Luqa), the Malta International Airshow, one of Malta’s largest outdoor events, has gained the well-earned reputation as one of Malta’s top outdoor family events, which is now in it’s 23rd edition.
This year’s show is taking place on Saturday and Sunday, the 25th and 27th of September, between 10am and 5.30pm.
The Malta International Airshow is the result of strong lobbying from the Malta Aviation Society for many years until approval was given to hold the first display in September of 1993. The 2015 edition is promising to be another successful air show, since lobbying and discussions are underway with many countries to confirm participation.
Two Aerobatic Teams namely the Polish Orlik Team and the Swiss PC-7 Team will grace our skies. Added to them the thrills from the Belgian Air Force F-16Demo Team and the helicopter displays by the Italian Air Force.
The Royal Navy’s Helicopter display Team the Black Cats will also be present. A good list of participating aircraft is also present in the static display line up, including tThe Royal Air Force’s 1(F) Squadron, which has now confirmed its participation in this year’s edition of the Malta International with two Eurofighter Typhoon jets in the static display.
Gulf Helicopters have also confirmed its participation with an AW-189 in the static line up. The AW-189 is based in Luqa for company operations offshore Malta.
On the show ground visitors will be able to enjoy touring around the static display aircraft and also finds some retail outlets selling official merchandise and a whole range of different items, food and refreshments are also available.
The Malta International Airshow is an event that cannot be missed this year, so please visit on the 26th and 27th September at the Malta International Airport.
