Gozo Ceramics Festival 3rd edition taking place this Saturday in Xlendi

The third edition of the Gozo Ceramics Festival was launched today, by the Minister for Gozo, Anton Refalo. The festival will once again be held in Xlendi Bay, and takes place this Saturday, the 1st of August, from 7.00pm onwards.
Dr Refalo said that following on from the success of the last couple of years, this very popular festival is being organised through the collaboration of the Munxar Local Council and the Culture Office within the Ministry for Gozo.
During the festival there will be several ceramists who will be working live and different exhibitions of ceramic works There will also hands-on experience for children, which will be led by experienced pottery teachers.
This evening festival is aimed to attract, as it has in the last 2 editions, both local and foreign tourists, as well as Gozitans and the Maltese who visit the island at the weekends.
The Minister explained that apart from the various exhibitions, during the evening the Xlendi the Administrative Committee will be illuminating the bay, with the now famous magical fjakkolata. There will be live music from local bands and the recently restored Underground Emergency Flour Mill will be open to the public.
Dr Refalo said that these types of activities are an added attraction to further strengthen domestic tourism, encouraging more Maltese to spend a weekend in Gozo. The events can also easily be advertised abroad and open a niche tourism in Gozo.
The Minister for Gozo gave thanks in particular to the Munxar Local Council for its continuing work in promoting the resort of Xlendi.
He also thanked all those who have once again contributed to making the Gozo Ceramics Festival such a success and wished everyone a “very pleasant evening in one of the most beautiful places on the island.”
