Around 30 students from the Gozo College Secondary School, worked together with an American artist, Mr Damien Perdue, on a mural project for the school.
Damien Perdue, is a Chicago graffiti muralist, who has been on a three-week programme in Malta during which he has worked on 2 murals including the one in Gozo, the other was at the University’s Cottonera Resource Centre.Perdue’s visit to the Maltese islands was supported by the US Embassy in Malta.
On the mural in Gozo, Damien Perdue and the team working together, created a theme, which was then built, as well as a sketch, this was then modified as the team worked together on the project throughout a whole week.
World unity and the precious message of peace, is the theme depicted in the mural. This is brought about by adopting the much needed values of respect, true love, responsibility, altruism, entrepreneurship among others, together with respect for diversity, the school said.
“The latter is the aim of the Gozo College, the logo of which is also included in the mural. Another important aspect is knowledge and the ability to learn so as to make the world a better place.”
