MUMN look forward to starting negotiations with health care investorThe MUMN Secretary General Colin Galea, in a statement this morning said that, now that the preferred bidder has been selected regarding the investment in the health care sector for Gozo and Malta, the Union is looking forward to starting the negotiations required to secure the working conditions of its members and that the patients will receive better care in an improved environment.

The MUMN noted that its members, who are involved in this project, are worried about their future because of the private sector involvement.

Discussions have been ongoing for a number of weeks with the Ministry of Health, the Union said, which are related to this project. “We have been given the necessary guarantees on a number of points, but others still remain unresolved.”

The Union added in the coming weeks the MUMN will start negotiations with the foreign investors on working conditions etc.

The MUMN stated that it is “seriously worried about the lack of nurses in the country and that this failure can only get worse if steps are not taken to address this shortcoming.”

The Union said that it is involved in discussions with the Ministry of Health on the current shortage and said that the nursing school which is planned to open should help improve the situation.
