Festival of figs and typical Maltese food this weekend in Xaghra

The Xaghra Local Council has announced that is is organising a festival of figs and typical Maltese food, this coming weekend, Saturday, the 20th and Sunday, the 21st of June.
The programme of activities is as follows:
Saturday 20th June 2015:
At 10am, an information session will be held at the ‘Dun Alwig Camilleri’ Hall in the Victory Band Club. During this seminar, Dr. Antoine Vella will discuss the cultivation of fig trees and the prevention of diseases related to fig trees.
From 7.30pm onwards, a festival of figs and local food will take place at Victory Square. The festival will have live entertainment by the local band The Tramps. There will be various food stalls selling typical Maltese food.
Sunday 21st June 2015:
From 8.00am onwards, a festival of figs and local food will take place at Victory Square. The festival will have the participation of the Xaghra Folk Group, Ta’ Verna Folk Band and live entertainment by Cash & Band.
There will be various food stalls selling typical Maltese food. For the benefit of those present, there will also be a demonstration of food made from figs by Karmen Tedesco. The festival ends at around 1pm.
The Xaghra Local Council is inviting everyone to attend for this festival. This activity is being organised with the collaboration of the Parliamentary Secretariat for Culture and Local Government and the Malta Tourism Authority.
