Gozo commemorates Sette Giugno 1919 riots in Xaghra ceremony

Gozo commemorated the Sette Giugno 1919 riots, during a ceremony held on Sunday evening, organised by the National and Regional Celebrations Committee within the Ministry for Gozo, in collaboration with the Xaghra Local Council and the Xaghra Historical Reenactment Organisation.A Memorial Mass started the commemoration, held at the Nativity of Our Lady Basilica, Xaghra. This was followed by a reenactment in Victory Square by the Xaghra Historical Reenactment Organisation.Finally a commemorative ceremony, including the playing of the Last Post and the Reveille, followed by the laying of wreaths, was held in front of Guzeppi Bajada’s monument in the lower part of Bullara Street
Guzeppi Bajada was born in Xaghra and was one the victims during these riots.
