Update Arrival time: Two ships of the Royal Australian Navy’s fleet, HMAS Anzac and STS Young Endeavour, will be visiting Malta as part of the centenary commemoration of the Gallipoli campaign.
Both ships will be arriving the morning of Monday the 11th of May. The STS Young Endeavour will arrive at Port Vittoriosa, Valletta Grand Harbour, and is expected at 10.00am, whilst the HMAS Anzac, is expected at around the same time, to be confirmed, and will dock at Pinto 3 Wharf, Valletta Cruise Terminal.Among the crew on-board the STS Young Endeavour, is a young Maltese citizen, Stefan Vella, who is a trainee with Malta Sail Training Association (MSTA).
The Malta Sail Training Association was established in Malta in 2011 by Mr. Ben Stuart, to allow young Maltese the opportunity to experience life aboard a tall ship.
STS Young Endeavour is a sail training ship, and as such its expected time of arrival is subject to change.
During the visit, Anzac’s crew will participate in a wreath laying ceremony at the Cappuccini Naval Cemetery, and will co-host an Official Reception onboard Anzac with the Australian Ambassador in Malta.
The Commanding Officer of Anzac, Commander Belinda Wood, RAN, will also host a mentoring session for female members in the Italian Armed Forces.
