Malta Police escort wanted man back to Malta from Sicily

The Malta Police, have today escorted Jomic Calleja, aged 28, back to Malta from Sicily.
Jomic Calleja was suspected to have escaped to Sicily, at the end of August 2014, while he was waiting for his case to be decided by the Gozo Court of Appeal.
On the 1st September 2014, an investigation by the Police Drug squad, led to the finding of about 18kg of Cannabis Grass. During the investigation, the Police identified Jomic Calleja as one of the persons involved in the importation of the drugs from Sicily.
With the evidence gathered by the Police and the several pending cases before the Maltese and Gozitan Courts, the Police issued a European Arrest Warrant for Jomic Calleja to be brought to Malta to face the pending cases before the Law Courts and also to be investigated on new charges.
