Aims of AD Gozo Local Council candidates for Qala and Nadur, if electedDavid Camilleri and Toni Falzon, Alternattiva Demokratika candidates for April’s Local Council elections in Qala and Nadur, have said in a statement that as elected Local Councillors they would work towards the following aims.

David Camilleri:

“To collaborate with MEPA for the permitted development of a children’s sea water park in the abandoned Hondoq ir-Rummien quarry, where children can safely play in sea water fountains under the shade of trees.Aims of AD Gozo Local Council candidates for Qala and Nadur, if electedTo encourage the Qala council to work together with the national authorities to create a Nature Park in the publicly owned land of “iz-Zirka.” This would be a managed and protected environment of indigenous and endemic trees and plants to safeguard their future survival on Gozo.

To work within the Qala council to convince MEPA to develop a sea Nature Park from “Xtajta ta’ Hondoq ir-Rummien” till “il-Gebel tac-Cawl” where people can swim and snorkel in a safe and secure environment.

To work with MEPA to monitor development permits to ensure that the safety of the local residents is paramount as well as to determine that the invaluable charm and character of Qala is retained.

To encourage the Qala Council to cooperate with Transport Malta to reduce traffic flows in the village core, thereby diminishing air and noise pollution.

To encourage the Qala Council to monitor any illegalities happening within the confines our our local council using unobtrusive methods.

Toni Falzon:

To collaborate with MEPA for the permitted development of a children’s sea water park at Ramla bay, where children can safely play in sea water fountains under the shade of trees.

To encourage the Nadur council to work together with the national authorities to create a Nature Park in the publicly owned land of “il Qortin Isopu” This would be a managed and protected environment of indigenous and endemic trees and plants to safeguard their future survival on Gozo.Aims of AD Gozo Local Council candidates for Qala and Nadur, if electedTo work within the Nadur council to convince MEPA to develop a sea Nature Park from “Xtajta ta’ Dahlet Qorrot till Irdum San Filip, where people can swim and snorkel in a safe and secure environment.

To work with MEPA to monitor development permits to ensure that the safety of the local residents is paramount as well as to determine that the invaluable charm and character of Nadur is retained.

To encourage the Nadur Council to cooperate with Transport Malta to reduce traffic flows in the village core, thereby diminishing air and noise pollution.

Both David and Toni said that they would also, “ensure that adequate local waste and recycling facilities are available and properly maintained, especially during the peak holiday period.

The Green Party agree with the national waste strategy for 2050, which aims at reaching a zero waste society. We will work within this framework for a local waste management plan that identifies the best way to implement the National Strategy at Qala and Nadur, including a pilot project for the recycling of organic and food waste.”
