GUG’s successful fourth edition of Gozo Week comes to an endGUG’s fourth edition of the Gozo Week held at the Msida Campus came to end on Friday. Held in collaboration with the Gozo Youth Council, Ta’ Mena Estate, Agenzija Zghazagh, Gozo Tourism Association, Visit Gozo, Eco-Gozo, Ministry for Gozo, Europe Direct and the Bank of Valletta, it included a number of activities.

It was also visited by a number of MPs and MEPs including Miriam Dalli, Alfred Sant, Evarist Bartolo, Beppe Fenech-Adami, and the Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, who visited on Friday.

GUG also held a well-attended debate, which focused on prospective initiatives that could improve employment, accessibility and education in Gozo.

It was organised in collaboration with Insite, the student media organisation on campus, and the discussion panel was composed of Ryan Mercieca (General Election Candidate for PN), Josianne Cutajar (Local Council Candidate for PL), Prof. Arnold Cassola (Chairmain of AD), Jonathan Mintoff (GUG President) and Eman Borg (Vice-President of Gozo Youth Council).

For the second consecutive year, the GUG’s Publishing Sub-Committee published the Gozo Week Magazine, which was distributed on campus. Containing a wide variety of articles, the magazine aimed to create a platform both for students and the organisation. Accessibility was also a priority and the magazine is being made available online here.

Activities for students included a Gozo Cheese Competition and free cocktails and other drinks.

GUG said that the overall feedback received was highly positive, and the organisation intends to continue holding this event annually.
