On Monday, the Gaulitanus Choir of Gozo, participated in a concert of sacred music entitled ‘Il mio canto e` la mia preghiera,’ held at the St Paul’s Proto Parish and Collegiate Church in Rabat, Malta.
The choir was invited to take part by the Fondazzjoni Paulus which organised the concert as part of the Rabat Agape Festival.
The Gaulitanus Choir sang together with the Chorus Paulus, accompanied by the Paulus Orchestra (led by Marcelline Agius) and conducted by the Gaulitanus Choir’s musical director Colin Attard.
Apart from performing Colin Attard’s own Missa Brevis in honorem Joannis Pauli II, which was the evening’s main work, the choir accompanied the internationally-renowned guest Italian tenor Fra Alessandro Brustenghi, in three of the six numbers which the latter performed.
Fitting for an occasion on the eve of St. Paul’s feast, the concert ended with Vincenzo Ciappara’s antifona Sancte Paule Apostole, the home-based antifona.
