Gozitan Choir, Chorus Urbanus, each year organises a collection during the annual Christmas Concert that goes in aid of local charitable institutions. This year, the managing committee of Chorus Urbanus decided the collection would be in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund.
The well-attended concert at St. George’s Basilica on the weekend before Christmas, yielded the generous sum of €741 that went all towards Istrina 2014 and the Malta Community Chest Fund.
As part of this year’s L-Istrina campaign, H.E. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca visited various villages in Gozo, where programmes of events had been organised, as well as meeting the local communities and receiving local contributions.
One of the visits by the President was with the local community at Fontana at the Council’s Main Hall. The President was welcomed by the Parish Priest Can John Muscat who thanked the President for her efforts throughout this year’s solidarity campaign.
Chorus Urbanus was then invited to sing two carols from its repertoire, which had been performed just the day before during its annual concert. There were performances by local dance schools featuring students from the locality.
Chorus Urbanus regularly animates the major liturgical services in Fontana throughout the year.
