The Kunsill Studenti Universitarji (KSU) in conjunction with Malta Public Transport have announced the launch of the KSU Transport Fund 2014.
A €10,000 fund established to incentivise and strengthen the use of Public Transport as an alternative means of transport to and from University Campus, rather than the use of private cars.
KSU said that this €10,000 pledge is part of its holistic vision regarding transport at the University of Malta, aimed at “not only encouraging those that come by bus to continue to do so, but primarily to incentives those students that come by car to opt for an alternative means of transport.”
The KSU Transport Fund consists of a €10,000 pledge towards the use of Public Transport, incentivising a shift from the use of private transport towards alternative means. “Furthermore, this fund has been partly divided to also support and further encourage those University Students that do not drive and already use Public Transport,” the Union said.
University of Malta Students that apply for the KSU Transport Fund will benefit from a 50% reduction on 90-day bus tickets. KSU added, “this in effect creates the possibility for Students to utilise Public Transport for an entire academic year for only €0.33 per day!”
