President launches l-Istrina in Gozo – 2 days of events to be held across Gozo

President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca this morning launched l-Istrina in Gozo. The President announced that this annual event will also be held for the first time on Gozo.
Gozo will host its own activities in aid of the Community Chest Fund between the 20th and 21st of December, and the President will visit the events in different localities across the island.
During a news conference held at the Villa Rundle Gardens in Victoria, the President explained that the Community Chest Fund spent around €230,000 every four weeks, of which 200,000 is used to fund specialised chemotherapy sessions for people with cancer.The President also inaugurated a new sate of the art Community Chest Fund office in Gozo, donated by local businessman Michael Grech and his family for the next 20 years.
President Coleiro Preca said that she sincerely thanked Mr Michael Grech and his family for their noble gesture. Saying that the services offered by MCCF Malta, will also now be offered equally to Gozo.
L-Istrina in Gozo will get underway with a Mass in Ghajnsielem on Saturday, the 20th of December, with the participation of hospital patients and day care centre members.
The President will then visit Qala, Nadur, Xewkija and Sannat. On Sunday, she will visit Zebbug, Ghasri, Kercem, Fontana and San Lawrenz. A number of activities will be held in the parish squares of the locations, and residents will be collecting donations.
The 2-day Gozo event will be concluded in Victoria.
