Gozo hosts first meeting of BEST: An Erasmus+ KA2 project between 7 countriesBe Enterprising, Succeed Together (BEST) is an Erasmus+ KA2 project between 7 countries (schools) around Europe. This is a 2-year project that commenced in September 2014.

The first project meeting was held in November at the Gozo College Boys’ Secondary School in Victoria.

The rationale driving the project is to help students develop critical thinking, decision-making and teamwork capacities for the purpose of promoting entrepreneurship skills. This is being done through interactive and experiential learning across the various participating schools.

The seven schools were represented at the meeting as follows: UK – Ms Rebecca Bollands (Coordinator) and Ms Sioux Cooke; Estonia – Ms Marika Kivistik; Greece – Ms Sotiria Tagiou and Mr Kyriakos Kyritsopoulus; Italy (Sicily) – Ms Provvidenza Martorana; Norway – Mr Fredrik Juel and Mr Anders Skogheim; Poland – Ms Iwona Slonka; and Malta (Gozo) – Mr George Attard, Ms Joanne Azzopardi, Mr David Camilleri, Ms Rose Spiteri Mr Matthew Sultana and Mr Robert Vella.

The meeting opened with a brief introduction of the participants, who delivered a short profile about their respective schools. During these meetings, the schools discussed the several activities and outcomes that will be done during the 2-year project.

A number of entrepreneurial activities are being undertaken in a time span of two years to put this rational into practice. The project will help bring about better access for students to quality entrepreneurship education.

Moreover, participating students will have an opportunity to capitalise on their innovative potential to improve soft skills, such as communication and social intelligence.

Gozo College Boys’ Secondary School will be in charge of the project website, where all activities will be uploaded.

Undoubtedly, such an undertaking fosters networks of like-minded students that support each other in their entrepreneur quests. Access to quality entrepreneurship education can have a beneficial impact on the success of entrepreneurs and thus on the development and growth of innovative new businesses.

The next meeting will be held in March 2015 in Patras, Greece.
