Five young members made up a team from the Gozo Greyhounds Sports Club, who headed to Malta on the 6.00am ferry this morning for their first challenge of the season, the Cross County race in Marsa, organised by the Malta Amateur Athletic Association.Louis Debattista from the Qala based club, said it was good to be back for another cross country race, to see the children competing. He added that it was made all that much tougher for the young team from Gozo, having such an early start to get there on time.
“The 5 kids did very well, representing Gozo in the event. They have been very dedicated and have been training 3 or 4 times a week to get to where they are today.”
“I am still hoping to see more kids taking part in Gozo, it would be good if more parents encouraged their children to maintain an active lifestyle,” Louis said.
Today the team where representing the Qala School and Louis thanked them all for their dedicated training, for the great job they did today at the event, and to the parents for their support.
Louis gives his time voluntarily to the club, and he said, “I love and care about what I do, specially when you have kids like this, that want to take up the challenge and have fun as well.”
