New Gozo MCAST Centre inaugurated in Ghajnsielem on Monday

The new MCAST Centre in Ghajnsielem Gozo, was inaugurated on Monday evening, in the presence of the Minister for Education Evarist Bartolo and the Minister for Gozo Dr Anton Refalo.
These new premises will replace the previous two satellite centres located in Xaghra and Xewkija. This year around 300 students are expected to follow several courses offered at different levels. As from this year. MCAST Gozo will also be offering a number of new courses. The campus consists of a number of workshops. computer labs. a language lab, a hairdressing salon, a conference room, a library, a canteen, a study area as well as a number of open air recreational areas.The Campus also has a number of new facilities that were previously not available to students.
During his address the Minister for Gozo expressed satisfaction at the opening of the new Centre, saying that “if the greatest richness to Malta is the ability of its workforce, this applies even more so to Gozo. That is why Gozitan parents make such large financial sacrifices to ensure that their children receive the the best level of education, and evidence of this is seen in the excellent academic results being achieved by Gozitan students.”
The Minister added that, “conscious of this, the present administration did not allow the parents and students to strive alone. The Government road-map referred to a number of measures designed to foster facilities and academic opportunities in Gozo. The Government is fully committed to the academic levels in Gozo and to increase the opportunities for Gozitan students.”
“Both the Ministry for Education and the Ministry for Gozo believed in the potential of this Campus and worked together for the best interests of Gozitan students,” Dr Refalo said.
The Minister for Gozo thanked Minister Bartolo and his entire Ministry team for their the work and assistance.
Dr Refalo concluded by saying that in Gozo there will now be a first class Campus which will give added value to the education in Gozo.
