Work starts next week on the 6th edition of the Bethlehem f’Ghajnsielem Nativity Village. Volunteers are being urged to go along to Ta’ Passi Fields next Saturday, the 4th of October, and give a helping hand to get this year’s edition underway
Novelties for this years edition will include the reconstruction of the Bethlehem Inn where visitors will once again have the opportunity to spend a night in the nativity village, the construction of a river and the expansion of certain room structures.
This was announced during a public consultation meeting held this week, during which villagers had the opportunity to discuss last year’s edition and make suggestions for this year’s event.
Main speakers during the meeting included Ghajnsielem Mayor Francis Cauchi, Project Manager Franco Ciangura and Dr Joe Mifsud on behalf the Gozo Christmas Committee.
Another meeting meeting, this time with the local NGOs (which include the St Joseph Band, Ghajnsielem Football Club, Ghaqda Armar, Ghaqda Piroteknika 10 ta’ Dicembru, Ghaqd Drammatika Ghajnsielem, St Francis Community and Radju Lawretana) will take place on Thursday, the 2nd of October.
The sixth edition of Bethlehem f’Ghajnsielem will open on the 6th of December and will be officially inaugurated by Her Excellency Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, President of Malta.
The event will be animated on weekends and public holidays and will remain open until the 4th of January 2015 when the Adoration of the Magi event takes place.
The event is being organised by the Ghajnsielem Local Council, Ministry For Gozo, local NGO’s and Ghajnsielem Parish through an organising committee chaired by Mayor Francis Cauchi.
