Soldiers from Gozo, form a substantial part of the Armed Forces of Malta fulfilling various roles and duties. As it transpired through normal roster scheduling, this month sees an Air Wing King Air maritime patrol aircraft crew composed of the Pilot, Co-pilot, and two Missions System Operators all being Gozitans.
The King Air is the AFM’s front line, long range, aerial surveillance platform featuring great flying performance coupled with a state of the art airborne observation and communications suite.
The AFM said that the daily commute travel time coupled with long flight hours, operating on demanding mission profiles, means a long working day for the Gozitan troops but they take this in their stride. Ready to fly and serve wherever and whenever they’re needed and ready to prove that they can do it as good if not better than their brethren from the bigger island.
