ERRC lifeguards assist swimmers in Comino and Ramla Bay, Gozo

Lifeguards of the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps have assisted various swimmers over the weekend, at the Blue Lagoon in Comino and Ramla Bay in Gozo.
On Saturday, at the Blue Lagoon, lifeguards assisted a tired swimmer, a foreigner in his late forties. He was brought ashore and appropriate first aid was administered. Although it was recommended to him to be transported to hospital, he refused the assistance.
Yesterday, lifeguards assisted another swimmer who suffered from a dislocated shoulder. The person was transported to Mgarr Harbour by means of hydro ambulance Lifesaver 1, and then transported to the Gozo General Hospital by ambulance for further treatment.
At Ramla Bay Gozo, the lifeguards assisted a French woman for suspected spinal injuries after slipping on rocks and hitting her back. She was immobilised and an ambulance was called on site to transport her to Gozo General Hospital for further treatment.
The lifeguarding service at the Blue Lagoon in Comino is possible due to financial support from the Malta Tourist Authority, The lifeguarding service in Ramla Bay in Gozo is possible due to financial support from Gaia Foundation.
Support is also being provided by the Ministry for Gozo, Mgarr Marina, Transport Malta, Police, Armed Forces of Malta, Police and the Civil Protection Department.
