The Gozo NGO Association has had a meeting with Dr Miriam Dalli, following their string of meetings with elected Members of the European Parliament (MEPs).
Members of the Association explained its aims and goals, whilst also voicing their concern for local NGOs. These concerns include local and EU funding as well as lack of training and administration.
Other subjects brought to the table were possibilities of ‘twinning’ between national NGOs. “Foreign NGOs can be twinned with local Gozitan NGOs to strengthen their support, service or art form and widen the positive effects of voluntary work throughout the Mediterranean, Europe and the whole world,” the Association said.
Another subject brought forward was that of co-financing. The Gozo NGO Association believes that “a particular co-financing fund for Gozo should be established and sustained, in order to give a better chance to project development and quality.”
