The Gozo Youth Council said that it calls for specific and direct measures to stimulate Gozo’s economy, especially with regard to job creation and human resources in the light of the EU funds Cohesion Policy 2014 to 2020 Operational Programme I and II.
The Council said that while it appreciates nation-wide results and benefits stimulated by national projects and schemes, and that Gozo will have its share to balance it out, “Gozo should nonetheless acquire more precise and concrete proposals.”
“Brain drain” is one of Gozo’s main problems and needs to be tackled directly and immediately, the Council said. “This can be done by direct investment in the island region so as to develop sectors such as education, creativity, research, tourism, innovation and entrepreneurship to eventually culminate in a centre of excellence.”
