100s apply for free SEC revision classes, applications close Wednesday

A total of 711 students, had by 3pm today applied for the free SEC revision classes being offered by the Ministry for Education and Employment as part of the Youth Guarantee by.
The revision classes, in Maths, English, Maltese and Physics and the classes will be an intensive programme between the 28th July and 30th August 2014.
Students who got 6, 7, U or an Absent in the four subjects above are entitled for these classes in both Malta and Gozo.
Most of the 711 students have applied for more than one subject. The numbers are as follows:
Maths – 439
English – 362
Maltese – 266
Physics – 232
Two days prior to the applications’ deadline 711 students applied for 1299 classes.
Students who apply are expected to undertake an intensive programme of 6 hours a week per subject, over a period of five weeks, starting at the end of this month.
The EU-funded initiative helps students who will be resitting for the respective subject in the September 2014 resit session.
During a press conference this afternoon, Minister Evarist Bartolo urged those who did not do too well in the May session to continue their studies and apply for these classes to boost their chances of doing well in September.
