GTA welcomes the opening of the National Statistics Office in Gozo

The Gozo Tourism Association welcomes the inauguration of the National Office of Statistics Branch in Victoria Gozo, this afternoon by the Minister for Finance Edward Scicluna and the Minister for Gozo Anton Refalo.
The GTA said that through the setting up of this office, Gozo will now benefit from more data that will be available on the Island. “Only through facts and figures can the region of Gozo interpret, identify and improve in specific economical and social areas.”
“The opening of this office has always been high on the agenda of the Gozo Tourism Association for a number of years. The Gozo Tourism Association notes the political will and commitment that were the main drivers behind the setting up of this regional NSO branch,” it said.
In conclusion the Gozo Tourism Association thanked the Ministry for Finance, The Ministry for Gozo, The Malta Statistics Authority and the National Office of Statistics “for collaborating together towards the realisation of this Regional Statistics branch.”
The NSO branch is located in Victoria, Gozo and currently employs 6 people. The aim of the new branch office is to compile and widen the scope of regional statistics, under the auspices of the Malta Statistics Authority.
