Japanese watercolour artist Hiroshi Ueno, is on a visit to Gozo, and on Sunday he was spotted in Victoria’s main street, where he was painting a scene of the Cittadella.
Hiroshi Ueno was born in 1943 in Mie prefecture, centre of Japan, and graduated from Musashino Art UniversityAfter leaving Yamaha Living-tech Company in 1999 he decided to become a regular painter for the rest of his life.
Hiroshi Ueno studied mainly watercolour paintings during the years 2000 and 2001 at the continuous courses in Heatherley School of Fine Art in London, this was done through a recommendation by the British artist, Alwyn Crawshaw who was a professional watercolour painter and former lecturer on a popular NHK TV programme.
Hiroshi Ueno also joined the workshops organised by well known American and western painters such as Charles Reid, John Yardley, as well as following their private lessons.
During that period he visited art frequently visited museums in Europe, making many sketches, paintings, subscribed for competitions in England and sold his paintings at market places. “In that way I have transformed myself to a real artist,” Hiroshi Ueno said.
After coming back from England he opened a school of watercolour paintings for beginners in his atelier at the Hamanako Lakeside Resort in Japan.
Hiroshi Ueno has also continued to participate in courses at The Art Academy of London and workshops organised by well known aquarelle artists. “Moreover I, myself have organised workshops in overseas and currently active internationally.”
