Gozo-Rocks! Charity Hike this Sunday to raise funds for the Alive Foundation

A reminder that this Sunday there is a charity hike to raise funds for the Alive Charity Foundation.
The hike has been organised by Louis Debattista of the Gozo-Greyhounds Youth Athletic Club in Qala. The route, starting from Mgarr, will follow the coastline and fields to Ramla Bay. There will be a bus waiting at Ramla to take all the hikers back to Mgarr. It is estimated that the hike will take around 5 hours.
The meeting place will be by the Police Station in Mgarr at 8.30am, participants are asked to take food, at least 2 bottles of water and please wear sensible shoes.
Louis said, “we are asking each participant to contribute €10 (bus is included in that) to go to the Alive Charity Foundation, to benefit breast cancer research and treatment. A receipt will be provided for each donation.”
“For those unable to join us on the hike, donations are still welcomed!” Louis said, cheques can be made out to Alive Charity Foundation, with “Louis Debattista” in the memo line and mailed to Louis Debattista, at “The Dusty House,” Triq ta’ Cini, Qala QLA-2020. Please include a return address so we can send a receipt.”
Louis said that the previous charity hike, for Alive charity foundation raised €220 and from the Tombla held in Qala there was a €350 profit after expenses.
The second edition of the Malta Airport – ALIVE2014 Cycling Challenge for Cancer will take 45 cyclists from Malta, including 12 female participants, across five European cities: from Prague to Vienna to Bratislava to Budapest and finally to Belgrade.
Out of the 45 cyclists taking part in the event, Louis Debattista is the only Gozitan in this year’s challenge, he also took part in last year’s event.
A total of over 1,000km will be covered in just seven days. The funds raised from this challenge will go towards the Research Trust (RIDT) of the University of Malta, to be utilised in breast cancer research projects in order to ensure improvement in survival rates of breast cancer patients in Malta.
