Programme of maintenance work in day centres & residences for the disabled

While addressing a seminar organised by the Sapport Agency, the Parliamentary Secretary for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Active Ageing, Dr.Justyne Caruana, today announced a programme of maintenance and embellishment work to be carried out at Day Centres and residences for disabled people.
Dr. Justyne Caruana said that the “Parliamentary Secretariat for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Active Ageing, in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, will commence the programme in Day Centres and residences in Kottonera, the Gwardjola Day Centre in Senglea, those in Hal Far and Marsascala. Residences in Cospicua, as well as in Xaghjra and Fgura will also be benefiting from this work.
Dr. Caruana said, “the Government is doing this work to ensure a better life for the Disabled.” Following visits to some of the Centres and residences, the Parliamentary Secretary said that she realised “the urgent need for maintenance work to be carried out in these properties, so we took action.”
She also mentioned the Standards for Dwellings of Disabled that has recently been launched for public consultation and appealed to everyone to take part in this consultation.
