HE Rob Luke, the British High Commissioner and Dr Alexander Sceberras Trigona, special envoy to the Prime Minister, visited the workshop to welcome the participants attending the Modern Diplomacy for Small States workshop.
The 10 day workshop focuses on the current diplomatic challenges and organisational needs of small states, engaging as speakers experienced diplomats who have first-hand knowledge of the challenges facing small states and how these challenges have been dealt with by Malta.
It is funded by the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malta and organised by DiploFoundation. It is being attended by 20 participants from 14 countries, mainly from small developing states in the Commonwealth.
The High Commissioner highlighted the role of the Commonwealth as a group of countries sharing a set of values notwithstanding their diversity. He made special reference to the CHOGM being hosted in Malta in 2015, underlining the vast complexity of organizing such an event and the opportunities it presents.
