The Chairman of the Bank of Valletta, John Cassar White, met the first group of employees who have just finished an intensive six month graduate management course organised by the Bank’s Training Academy.
The aim of the course was to give the participants an opportunity to discuss issues that are most relevant to the management of the Bank at a time when the financial sector is undergoing significant change.
The course content included modules on strategic management, economics and finance, leadership and team building, marketing, human resources management and organistional learning. The modules were delivered by a number of senior Bank officials as well as local and foreign business practitioners.
The training was facilitated through seminars based on best practice and case studies, discussion groups, team projects, learning logs, presentations and reports.
Whilst congratulating the gradautes, Mr Cassar White stated that, “young graduates should prepare themselves to take more onerous responsibilities and the Bank would seek to give them the opportunities to home their management skills. The banking sector internationally is changing at a fast rate as a result of the lessons learned in the financial crisis which has brought about a sharper awareness of the need for more professional and rigorous management of risk.”
The graduates were presented with a token of appreciation for their commitment in this training experience. Following the successful completion of this Programme, other graduate employees will have the opportunity to enroll in similar courses over the coming months.
