Medieval Gozo: The Identity of an Island - Lecture by Prof Stanley FioriniUpdate: As part of this weekend’s first anniversary celebrations at Il-Hagar | Heart of Gozo Museum, in St George’s Square Victoria, there will be a lecture by Prof Stanley Fiorini.

The lecture, which, is to be delivered in English, is taking place on Saturday, starting at 10.30am, is entitled ‘Medieval Gozo: The Identity of an Island’ and will take place at the Il-Hagar | Heart of Gozo Museum.

Professor Stanley Fiorini, is the former Head of Mathematics at the University of Malta and a keen researcher into Maltese Medieval History, on which subject he has published several works, notably the ten-volume Documentary Sources of Maltese History and, most recently, a joint work (with Mgr Joseph Busuttil and Professor Horace C.R. Vella), Tristia ex Melitogaudo.

He is now retired Professor Emeritus who, in recognition of his historical output, has been awarded by the University a Senior Fellowship at the University of Malta.

Other activities will be taking place throughout the weekend and to mark the occasion the museum will be open free of charge to visitors on Saturday, the 22nd and Sunday, the 23rd of February.

Fondazzjoni Belt Victoria’s Annual General Meeting will be held on Friday, the 21st of February at 6.30pm at the museum. Fr Charles Cini SDB will offer a gift for the occasion.

Masses on Saturday, the 22nd of February at St George’s Basilica are being offered for the needs of benefactors, living and dead.

At noon, a collective Exhibition, ‘Heart of Gozo – Scenes of an island,’ will be officially opened.

On Sunday, the first anniversary of the museum, Coordinating Curator and Founder Mgr Joseph Farrugia will be celebrating thanksgiving Mass at St George’s Basilica at 11.00am, with the participation of Laudate Pueri Choir. This will be followed by a luxury Luncheon Buffet at the Hotel Ta’ Cenc, starting at 1pm, for which booking is essential, by email on info@heartofgozo.org.mt or by phone on 21557504-
