New football pitch inaugurated at Zebbug, Gozo

The new Zebbug football pitch was inaugurated today, as part of a funding programme worth half a million euros that the Government signed with the Gozo Football Association to upgrade several football pitches, including the Gozo Stadium which is to host next May’s U17 UEFA competition.
San Lawrenz has already been completed and Kercem is also due to be inaugurated in the coming months.
This pitch was inaugurated by the Parliamentary Secretary for Research, Innovation, Youth and Sports, Dr Stefan Buontempo and the Minister for Gozo, Dr Anton Refalo.
The Parliamentary Secretary said that the stadium “is testament to the commitment of the Government towards sports activities in Gozo.”
He addedd that the Government is committed to bringing sport in Gozo up to an even higher level so that Gozitan athletes may have better opportunities for when they compete. This programme of funds to the Gozo Football Association, shows that the Government is investing in making a healthier society in Gozo through sport.
The Minister for Gozo, Dr Anton Refalo thanked the Parliamentary Secretary for his work towards improving sports opportunities in Gozo, reaffirming the Government’s commitment towards this aim.
