Speaking on One TV, the Minister said that a study being conducted to evaluate the possibility of a fast ferry service between Malta and Gozo, is now in the final stages, adding that this would also look at the impact the service would have on Gozo Channel, saying that the ferry service would be for foot passengers only.
Another proposal, he said, is a swimming pool for the island which would be funded by the EU.
He mentioned that the Government was also considering the re-introduction of an airstrip for Gozo, and that studies were ongoing to look at the possibility of an alternative route connecting Mgarr Harbour and Xewkija, keeping in mind the impact on the environment.
The Gozo Minister said that following the outstanding success of the free weekend travel offer that took place last November, there would a similar scheme for St Valentine’s Day. With proposals also being looked out for Carnival.
