George Borg wins Gozo Tourism Worker of the Year 2013

The Gozo Tourism Association, for the sixth consecutive year, organised the Gozo Tourism Awards 2013.
This years’ Awards were bestowed to the Gozitan Tourism Worker of the Year, the Young Gozitan Tourism Worker of the Year, as well as the Tourism Gozitan Entrepreneurship Award.
The main aim of these awards is to acknowledge, commend, encourage and thank all the workers and Entrepreneurs who distinguishes themselves in the performance of their duties in the vital touristic industry in Gozo.
Mr George Borg, Catering Manager with Connection Caterers won The Gozo Tourism Worker of the year Award 2013, whilst the Young Tourism Worker of the Year award 2013 was awarded to Mr George Sultana, Supervisor in the Food & Beverage Department at Kempinski San Lawrenz. Another award which was introduced this year was the Entrepreneurship Award, which was won by Mr Joseph Spiteri, Director/ Owner of Ta’ Mena Estate.
The winners were officially announced by Notary Public Dr. Enzo Dimech LL.D chairman of the adjudicating board which also included, Mr Joseph Psaila and Mr Paul Curmi.
Finally the Gozo Tourism Association council awarded the Lifetime Tourism Achievement Award to Mr Victor J Borg for his investment and achievements in the tourism sector during a span of 45 years, which contributed towards job creation and economic growth on Gozo.
The Minister for Gozo Dr Anton Refalo, presented these Awards to the respective winners. In his concluding message the Minister for Gozo emphasized, the importance of the tourism industry for the island of Gozo, adding that the success of tourism on Gozo relies also on the input of the workers.
Dr. Refalo, whilst thanking all the nominees and all those who work within the tourism industry in Gozo, complimented the Gozitan tourism entrepreneurs, who invested and are still investing in tourism on Gozo.
Finally the Minister for Gozo gave a brief of the projects and initiative, which his Ministry has recently launched. These include the fast ferry service, the cruise liner passenger terminal, the airlink, and the cleaning campaign. He also referred to the various initiatives taken recently to entice and enhance the domestic tourism to Gozo.
