GreenPak & Local Councils clothes collection in aid of charityA reminder that GreenPak Coop Society, in collaboration with 12 Local Councils, including 2 in Gozo, have organised a clothes collection scheme in aid of Inspire Foundation.

GreenPak is inviting residents to donate any unused or unwanted clothing items in order to help raise funds for the Inspire Foundation.

The participating Local Councils are in Gozo: Xaghra and Xewkija, while in Malta: Attard, Valletta, Hal Ghaxaq, Gudja, Hal Kirkop, Rahal Gdid, Pembroke, Qrendi, Tas-Sliema, and Zurrieq.

Residents from all localities are encouraged to donate any unused or unwanted clothes, shoes, handbags or any other accessories in good condition to deliver them to any of these Local Councils’ premises on Saturday, the 25th of January 2014 between 8am and 11.30am.

Inspire Foundation CEO Mr Nathan Farrugia said, “The donated items will be distributed to Inspire’s charity shops and the funds collected from their sale will help provide better services to those in need. Inspire is grateful for such initiatives as they help us raise much needed funds that go towards the running of our programmes for persons with a disability, enabling them to reach their full potential by focusing on their ability rather than disability.”

GreenPak Senior Manager Denise Brincat said, “In the waste hierarchy, re-using products keeps new resources at a minimum, while at the same time limiting the generation of waste. GreenPak is encouraging the residents to extend the life of an unused or unwanted item by donating it towards a noble cause.”

GreenPak Coop Society is a MEPA authorised scheme and is a founding member of EXPRA, the European organisation promoting producer responsibility schemes internationally. GreenPak is also backed by PROEurope, an umbrella organisation of 35 national producer responsibility systems engaged in the selective collection and recycling of packaging waste.

Inspire is a non-profit organisation that leads the way in providing therapeutic, education and leisure services to persons with disabilities in Malta and Gozo.
