Stronger representation for Gozitan students at Gozo 6th Form, says PulseStudent organisation Pulse announced during a press conference that it “has become the first student body to be officially recognised at the Gozo College Higher Secondary (Sir M.A. Refalo Sixth Form)” with its representation being officially announced in front of the institution.

The Press Conference, addressed by Pulse President Matthew Zerafa and Gozo Coordinator Joseph Masini, was attended by seven new Pulse members from the post-secondary institution who are “the initial team being brought forward by the organisation to be a reference point for their peers in issues of direct concern.”

During his address, Pulse Gozo Coordinator Joseph Masini stated that it “was only a natural step for the organisation which has been championing Gozitan students’ rights and needs for the past years, bringing issues which matter most to them at the forefront of the national agenda.”

“Therefore,” he added, “Pulse’s entry within the Gozitan institution marked a continuation of what was done so far in a more direct manner.”

On the other hand, Pulse President Matthew Zerafa stated that “Pulse will continue to seek cooperation with all concerned parties, including student organisations already present in Gozo with which a harmonised effort will be sought. Furthermore, the organisation will be working hand-in-hand with the school administration whilst aiming at becoming a hub for students’ concerns, ideas, and aspirations.”

“One of the major problems identified immediately by the new team is the issue student apathy, which Pulse will be combating consistently as it has done in other institutions such as MCAST. For this reason, a process of direct engagement with the students will be launched in the coming weeks in order for Pulse to be able to listen to what many have to say about this issue which is hindering the students’ holistic development,” the Pulse spokesperson said.

“The announcement of Pulse’s entry at the Gozo College Higher Secondary comes about just a year after the organisation was recognised as the first student society in MCAST,” Pulse concluded.
