Two seminarians made acolytes at Ghajnsielem Parish ChurchOn the third Sunday of Advent, in the Parish Church of Our Lady of Loreto, Ghajnsielem, two seminarians, Joseph Attard from the Parish of Zebbug and Mario Curmi from the Parish of Xaghra, were conferred with the Ministry of Acolyte during a concelebrated Mass, led by the Bishop of Gozo, Mgr Mario Grech.

The Acolyte will be one step closer to priesthood, and so the Ministry of the Acolytate has to help the seminarian in his preparation for the priestly ordination he will be receiving in the future.

Their duties will keep them closer to the altar as they will make the necessary preparations for the Holy Eucharist and administer the Holy Eucharist.

The Acolyte Ministry enables those who receive it to carry out the Church’s mission of distributing the Holy Eucharist, both at Mass and outside.

The acolytes help the priests and deacons at Mass but also visit the sick and elderly in their homes to give them Communion. They are expected to live their daily life closer to the Eucharistic Mystery.
