6.1% increase in the number of people who visited Gozo – Ministry for Gozo

The Ministry for Gozo has said in a statement that according to the the latest official figures, the number of people who visited Gozo in the first nine months of this year increased by 6.1% compared to last year, the number of nights stay also increased by 9.0% over the same period.
September saw an increase of 13.3% in the number of people who visited Gozo, which, the Ministry pointed out, “was considerably higher than the rate registered on a national level, with Malta registering an increase of 6.4%.”
The statement said that “the increase in figures were not just a coincidence, but through the result of relentless work by the Minister for Gozo in conjunction with all operators related to the tourism industry.”
It added, “these figures will help an industry that is so important to Gozo, and we believe will translate into job creation for the island.”
The Ministry concluded that “the increases were also the result of initiatives taken to improve the tourism product in Gozo, such as the cultural activities that were held during the summer months in Marsalforn and Xlendi.”
