Between August and October, a total refurbishment of the present sound system at St George’s Basilica was completed.
The upgrade to the system includes the installation of new microphones, including cordless and new speakers. In order to compliment all this new hardware, a new mixer and amplifier were also acquired. The installation has been entrusted to Mr John Cauchi.
Through the various functions, the newly installed system will provide an improved control of sound, even with pre-established settings, according to the various functions being held at the Basilica.
New wiring was installed along with the provision of new points for microphones. The Basilica said that working only during the afternoons, Mr George Schembri and his team managed to complete this demanding task. “The speakers are now in place, and the work required for the whole system to function has now been concluded. The new sound system started operating on the 29th of October.”
“Special collections are being conducted during Sunday’s Mass in order to ask parishioners and all those visiting our basilica to contribute financially to this project, which runs into thousands,” the Basilica said.
