Continuing the programme for the Ggantija 2013 Project, Heritage Malta together with Ars Vitae Ensemble, will be hosting workshops at Ggantija in Xaghra Gozo and at Heritage Malta’s National Museum of Archaeology in Valletta .
Workshops will include hands-on activities where participants, aged between 9 -12 years, will have the opportunity to create and decorate their own terracotta sculptures, paintings with natural pigments and musical instruments inspired by Malta’s prehistoric heritage.
Another activity includes music improvisation where students create simple rhythms using various percussion instruments and other media.
The session will be highlighted by visual and sensory presentations showing selections from Ggantija 2013 performance and installations. Composer Mariella Cassar and artist Victor Agius will conduct the workshops.
A nominal fee of €7 per participant will cover all materials, resources and the firing of the terracotta pieces. Payment by Culture Card will be accepted on site. A certificate of participation will also be awarded to all attendees.
The Ggantija 2013 Project, curated by Dr Vince Briffa, was launched inside at Ggantija on the 21st of June 2013. Guests experienced a live musical performance by Ars Vitae Ensemble together with a number of sculptural and light installations.
This project is a collaboration between two Gozitan artists; composer Mariella Cassar and visual artist Victor Agius.
