The Federation for Hunting & Conservation – Malta (FKNK) in a statement this afternoon said that “CABS personnel, who at present are on Malta, are now distributing leaflets to locals and tourists alike who visit Malta’s sister island of Gozo.
These leaflets contain deceitful and incorrect information with regards the local hunting and live-bird capturing (colloquially known as trapping) legislation at present in force.”
FKNK stated that “in this way, CABS’ members are inciting locals and tourists to register false reports of illegalities to the police.”
FKNK have set out what they say the differences are as follows: “The leaflets also says that from 15 September to 7 October 2013 hunting is forbidden….after 1.00 pm on Sundays and public holidays, when in fact the correct information should be – Hunting is forbidden after 1:00 pm on Sundays and public holidays throughout the hunting open season, i.e. from 1 September 2013 to the 31 January 2014,” FKNK said.
FKNK also stated that it is “further informed that CABS are daily roaming the Maltese countryside with total disregard of private property rights.”
“CABS provoking tactics have now exceeded the limits of tolerance and the FKNK draws the attention of the Commissioner of Police such that the appropriate action can be taken in defence of Maltese law-abiding hunters and trappers and the general public,” FKNK concluded.
