Gozo Live Performance Writers Society at the Villa RundleA group of Gozitan writers is preparing to revive a cultural tradition by presenting it’s first live public performance. Gozo Live Performance Writers Society, will be presenting a programme of short drama, story telling, poetry and music at an open air concert in the amphitheatre at Villa Rundle Gardens in Victoria.

Gozo Live was formed following a public meeting held in October 2012 to bring together writers of all types living and working on the Island of Gozo, to socialise and perform their work in a free and creative environment.

With a current membership approaching fifty, the group represents most exponents of the literary arts from short story writers to novelists, poets, song writers and playwrights and actors.

With 2018 in mind and the EU cultural spotlight firmly fixed on the Maltese Islands, Gozo Live particularly wishes to encourage teenage writers and performers to join and become involved in this important showcase for Gozitan culture.

Of all the arts, writing is the one that has the greatest impact on daily life. From television and radio script writing to newspaper reporting, books and magazines to correspondence and advertising, the written word is part of our daily experience.

In the past, Gozo writers have traditionally gone out into the community to inform and entertain. Gozo Live writers seek to revive that tradition.

The programme for this event, which is taking place on Friday, the 13th of September, is directed by the acclaimed theatre writer and director, Rob Ricards and the event is supported by the Gozo Ministry though its Culture Office.

The performance gets underway at 7.30pm, entrance is free of charge and everyone is welcome to attend.
